Authenticity is important when building your brand.
The selfie generation that we find ourselves in seems to have proliferated the notion that we are supposed to emit a perfect image for our brand. In fact, in the 2005 animated movie “Robots” we saw the social commentary on what had already been established with the rise of plastic surgery and fad diets and body shaping remedies. The movie shows the villian’s company promoting, “Why be you, when you can be new.” Here at Women Speakers Association we are calling that BUNK.
The strategy of trying to be something you’re not to fulfill a model of perfection or be as good as or better than someone else, is a big ole trap… especially for women. We don’t have to be new, different or better. We simply have to be ourselves. There are unique aspects of you that need that when shared, are compelling and beneficial to others. We celebrate you and all that you are. Our community is all about inclusivity and equanimity. We hope this becomes the trend we see in the world and invite you to be a part of it.
On this May 16th WSA-TV Premier Show episode our guest experts will share tips on how to build your brand authentically and impact more people.
Featuring: Sofia Negron & Vasi Huntalas
Advice from our WSA Experts
We asked our featured guests to share some of their valuable wisdom with us.
Sofia suggest that you “get really clear with your why, know who you want to help and what stories you want to tell then think about what those stories would look like. Then take a look at your services and how you can visually show those. Think about how you want to be perceived, the experience your clients will have with you. Look through Pinterest and build a vision board of what those things look like and then you can go into your brand shoot confident that your clients will understand you, be drawn to you and learn from you.”
Vasi shares that “one of the biggest blocks I see in women is our tendency to be hard on ourselves esp. by minimizing our abilities, strengths when we compare ourselves to someone else. 1: NOTICE when you compare yourself and don’t assume that it is true. 2: ASK instead: What qualities, strengths, skills about that person that inspires me and that I possess too? 3: CHOOSE: Focus on a strength, or skill that you would like to encourage more in yourself. 4: PLAN how you will learn, grow, and/or be mentored in that quality, strength, skill and start doing it! Focusing on what inspires us is empowering and creates momentum because we’re motivated to grow and take action.”
