Sometimes the most important aspect of caretaking is self-care.
Sometimes the most important aspect of caretaking is self-care. You’ve probably heard that before. Like on the airplane, put on your mask before you help someone else. Well let’s take that one step further. It is ridiculous to burden yourself with the caretaking of another. Remember the phrase “it takes a village to raise a child.” Well, it takes support of others to take care of adults. If you deny that, you’re setting yourself up for a breakdown. Today breakthrough expert Trilby Johnson and senior care consultant Eileen Piersa inspire you to lead a care-filled life starting with care full decisions.
Did you know you can take care of both yourself and others and yourself care if you simply enlist a little help? Try on a new paradigm. Consider that the BEST possible care taking you can provide requires thinking beyond your own capacity. Take on making caretaking a stress-less activity. What if caretaking and self-care were both about producing more joy in your life. Could you get into that? Trilby, Eileen, and Laura encourage you to look at your options, evaluate your feelings and take on the responsibility of having more joy in your life as it truly will result in you being the best caretaker ever.
So take a nice deep breath, and enjoy the show.

Advice from our WSA Experts
We asked our featured guests to share some of their valuable wisdom with us.
Trilby says “The answer is usually simpler than we think. That’s why it’s important to feel your way. And trust that!”
Eileen suggests that you “Don’t give your name to people online that will blast your name to sales people and you will be bombarded with calls from senior living communities. I meet with the family and understand the needs, the budget, the area they want to live. Then I do the footwork and tour the facilities in advance and select the top choices. Then I tour with the family or client so I can help ask the right questions and help negotiate the fees. What this does is reduces wasted time, lowers the stress and ultimately helps everyone through a difficult time.”
