Founder & Editor In Chief, Jones Magazine
Houston, TX USA

We cannot always know which direction life will take us or how we get there. I started Jones with a notion that began in a book club and a nudge from a husband taken from me much too soon…I nurtured it from my living room. It grew into a television series and now a national publication. God does not always give you a blueprint of His plan for you, but be assured that he has one even through painful period. Through it all I am reminded that He does ALL things WELL. My abbreviated story is in the video link attached.

Tracey Ferguson Tracey Ferguson serves as the Editor-in-Chief of JONES Magazine – Houston’s most anticipated luxury publication for affluent women of color. First launched in 2005, JONES is distributed throughout the Houston metropolitan areas and maintains a sizable subscription base around the world.

Under Ferguson’s leadership, JONES has flourished from a wishful concept bantered about during a monthly book club meeting, into a vibrant, influential and beguiling quarterly publication that serves as the authority for discriminating shopping and services. Ferguson’s  concept for the magazine lingered with her for months. JONES was further honed after exhaustive research led to determining a viable need and opportunity to successfully capture and influence the tastes and behaviors of a powerful, albeit ignored group of women with tremendous discretionary income.

Recognized as a fashion stalwart in the Houston community, Ferguson is an outspoken supporter of building the careers of fashion models of color, and advancing the exposure of today’s sophisticated Black woman in the media. Equipped with over 15 years of marketing and intercultural communications experience, Ferguson directs her creative voice toward ensuring each issue of JONES delivers gorgeous, forward-thinking fashion spreads, unbiased editorial and premium experiences that JONES readers have come to value.

Ferguson is a member of the Houston Association of Black Journalists (HABJ) and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She actively supports Dress For Success, Keep A Child Alive Foundation; Until There’s a Cure, The Diamond Empowerment Foundation, and The Sister’s Network. Since launching JONES Magazine, she often maintains a rigorous schedule, though makes time to speak to audiences on careers in media, and social responsibility. Warmly referred to as “T-Ferg”, she holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in journalism from Abilene Christian University and GREATLY enjoys international travel, reading, fine dining and of course, spending precious time with her teenagers—son, Joshua and daughter, Kendall.
